The book has been produced in coordination with the exhibition “Alberto Garutti. didascalia/caption” held from 17 November 2012 to 3 February 2013 at the PAC – Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea of Milan, and produced thanks to the support of BSI.
The publication is not just a catalogue of the exhibition, but the long-awaited catalogue raisonné the artist has finally decided to publish. The texts and interviews of the curators of the exhibition are accompanied by the contributions of nine other international critics, each discussing one key term of the over three decades of work of Alberto Garutti.
The catalogue contains installation views and the listing of the pieces in the exhibition at the PAC, the exhibition space designed by Ignazio Gardella, to whom the cover of the volume pays affectionate, Machiavellian homage. The book also includes profiles of the works, edited by Paola Nicolin, from the mid-1970s to the present, a timeline of the exhibitions and a selected bibliography.
