Old Story / New Twists

“Old Story / New Twists” a cura di Vittorio Parisi, ventiseienne barese, ricercatore presso la Sorbona di Parigi e già collaboratore della galleria come critico e redattore.

La mostra riunisce quattro giovani artisti, ciascuno impegnato nell’uso di uno specifico medium espressivo: dalla pittura alla fotografia, dalla scultura al mixed-media. L’obiettivo della mostra è quello di presentare alcuni recenti sviluppi dell’arte contemporanea europea, rivolti alla figurazione e alla narrazione, lontani dall’universo del concettuale. Tali sviluppi testimoniano un piacere ritrovato dell'arte nel descrivere e raccontare oggetti e storie: questo "gusto" antico per l'imitazione e la narrazione, messo a lungo da parte durante una fitta stagione dominata dal gesto artistico più che dal talento esecutivo, sembra riemergere con forza in una generazione di giovani dal marcato talento tecnico ed espressivo.

Gli artisti selezionati sono: Andreas Senoner (http://www.senonerandreas.com/), scultore altoatesino classe 1982 formatosi tra l'Italia, la Spagna e gli Stati Uniti; le sue sculture, rigorosamente lignee e antropomorfe, figuravano fra le opere esposte al Padiglione Italia della 54esima Biennale di Venezia. A Carolin Jörg (http://www.carolin-joerg.com/), tedesca, è invece affidata l’installazione di alcune opere per la categoria “mixed media”. A rappresentare pittura e fotografia ci sono i francesi Gaël Davrinche e Alain Delorme: Davrinche (http://davrinche.com/), già facente parte di numerose collezioni museali in Francia, espone per la prima volta in Italia i suoi olii e acrilici su carta, nei quali è forte l’influenza dei grandi maestri modernisti; Delorme (http://www.alaindelorme.com/), anche lui per la prima volta in Italia, esporrà alcune fotografie tratte dalla serie "Totems", realizzate a Shanghai tra il 2010 e il 2011.

Friday, December 14th, at 6.30 pm, Doppelgaenger, Gallery of Contemporary Art in Bari, opens the first collective exhibition, entitled “Old Story / New Twists” by Vittorio Parisi, 26 y.o. from Bari, researcher at the University of Paris - Sorbonne, reviewer and editor for Doppelgaenger.

The exhibition includes four young artists and each of them uses a different expressive medium: painting, photography, sculpture and mixed-media. The aim of this exhibition is to show some recent developments of European contemporary art, concerning representation and narration, far from the universe of conceptual art. These developments prove a newfound pleasure in the art of describing objects and telling stories: this old "taste" for imitation and narration, that has been abandoned for a long period in which the artistic purpose overcame the talent and the ability, seems to come back to life in a generation of young artists with a great talent in both technique and expressivity.

The artists selected for the exhibition are: Andreas Senoner, sculptor from Trentino - Alto Adige, born in 1982, trained in Italy, Spain and USA; his anthropomorphic wooden sculptures were displayed at the Italian Pavilion of the 54th Biennale di Venezia. Carolin Jörg from Germany, exhibits some art installations in the category “mixed media”. In the categories of painting and photography there are Gaël Davrinche and Alain Delorme, both from France : Davrinche is already part of several museum collections in France and displays for the first time in Italy his oil paintings and acrylic paintings on paper, which show the big influence of great masters of modern art; Delorme, for the first time in Italy too, displays some photographs from the series "Totems", realized in Shanghai between 2010 and 2011.
