Planar ha il piacere di ospitare la mostra Until Proven Otherwise / On the Evidence of the First Photos, di Francesca Seravalle, membro del nostro comitato scientifico.
Until Proven Otherwise (Fino a prova contraria / Sulla prova delle Prime Fotografie) è un’indagine fotografica in progress che investiga il tema dell'autenticità di quelle che vengono comunemente accettate come “prime foto”. Il progetto verrà esposto negli spazi di Planar e in diversi luoghi pubblici dei dintorni. Muri, balconi, giardini pubblici... ospiteranno una selezione speciale di “prime foto” in giro per la città con l'obiettivo di mostrare foto storiche nel contesto urbano di Bari.
La selezione include la prima foto fatta in Italia, il primo selfie, la prima fotografia istantanea, la prima foto di compleanno, la prima immagine da un telefono cellulare, la prima foto di un'eruzione vulcanica, delle vittime di una guerra …. Per raccogliere più di un centinaio di immagini Francesca Seravalle ha impiegato quasi tre anni, facendo ricerche negli archivi storici e contattando musei, istituzioni ed inventori per provare la veridicità di queste foto o sfatare falsi miti (come ad esempio la prima immagine caricata su web). www.thefirstphotos.com
La mostra - vincitrice del Paul Hill Award Exposure FORMAT15 - porterà a Bari alcune ri-scoperte prime foto e alcune corrispondenze inedite fra la curatrice ed alcuni autori di prime foto.
Francesca Seravalle (Venezia, 1979) – Curatrice premiata, ricercatrice e project manager Francesca ha, negli anni, lavorato su numerosi progetti artistici e mostre di alto profilo. Collabora come ricercatrice indipendente e talent scout per Erik Kessels e The Archive of Modern Conflict ed è contributor per riviste come Flash Art, Secret Behaviour and DAMN Magazine.

Bari, Italy - Planar is pleased to host the exhibition Until Proven Otherwise / On the Evidence of the First Photos, by Francesca Seravalle, member of our Scientific Committee.
Until Proven Otherwise is a work in progress that investigates the authenticity of commonly accepted First Photos. The works will be exhibited in Planar and in different public spaces nearby. Walls, balconies, public garden … will host a special selection of First Photos around the city in order to wave historical photos into the urban pattern of Bari.
The collection includes the first photo made in Italy, the first selfie, the first instant photo, of a birthday party, of a kiss in motion, the first of a camera phone, of a volcanic eruption, of victims of war...To collate the more than one hundred pictures Francesca has spent nearly three years researching historical archives and contacting museums, institutions and inventors to prove the truth around these photos or to debunk fake myths (as the first photo uploaded on the web).ww.thefirstphotos.com
