ART'12 MADRID

FIFTY-EIGHT GALLERIES WILL ATTEND ART MADRID FEBRUARY 16TH TO 19TH 2012

In what will be its seventh iteration and as an established event within the contemporary art scene, Art Madrid 2012 will be held from February 16th to Sunday, February 19th. The Crystal Pavilion in the Casa de Campo will accommodate the 58 participating galleries divided into the general programme, the Young Art programme, and the newly launched One Project and Art Edition. All told, there will be 77 exhibition spaces distributed over 8,000 m2.

Art Madrid 2012 is committed to the gallery owner and the artist, and it is the art fair with the largest national presence. Thirty-six galleries have been selected for the general programme, representing the historical avant-gardes, modern art and contemporary art: ACGALLERY Arte & Ciencia, Alba Cabrera, Ansorena, Art Lounge, Artetrece, Bat alberto cornejo, Benlliure, Cordeiros, A. Cortina, Del Cisne, Del Palau, Espiral, Estampa, Fernán-Gómez, Flecha, Gabriel Vanrell, Galleri MDA, Hispánica, Joan Gaspar, Joan Oliver "Maneu", Jorge Alcolea, Juan Gris/Rayuela, Lorenart, Marita Segovia, Mikel Armendia, Pashmin Art Gallery, Pilares, Principal Art, Punto, Rodrigo Juarranz, Sala Parés, Schmalfuss-Berlin, Set espai d´art, Vali30, Victor I Fills and Xanon.

In its commitment to fostering and consolidating young art at the fair, this year the Young Art space continues. It is a programme consisting of galleries that have been open for fewer than five years and that present works by young artists, and galleries that have been operating for more than five years and that present the work of a single artist under 40, whose works have been produced in the past two years. Young Art will be represented by 10 galleries: 100 Kubik, 3 Punts, ART Next, Carolina Rojo, Collage Habana, EL QUATRE, Fernando LaTorre, Moret Art, 6mas1 and Victor Lope.

This year, as a novelty, two initiatives have been added to revitalize the fair. One Project will emphasize the newest and most radical art, as well as new unconventional media. This curated programme complements Art Madrid's initiative that consists in galleries that participate with a specific project by an artist under 45. This project will be showcased in 10 m2 stands in a differentiated space at the Crystal Pavilion. The following galleries make up this programme: 100Kubik, 3 Punts, 6mas1, Astarté, Edurne, Esquina, Estampa, Isabel Ignacio, Material, Metro, Principal Art, Ra del Rey, Rayuela, Rina Bouwen, Trentatres and Twin Studio & Gallery.
Likewise Art Madrid 2012 presents its new initiative Art Edition for galleries and contemporary art publishers that produce and present original graphic works, as well as contemporary art editions by artists of any nationality, and publications. This programme will be represented in the fair by the galleries Obra Gráfica Original and TALLER del PRADO, the publishers Cálamo Arte y Bibliofilia and Prueba de artista; and by the following publications: Arte al límite, Arte y Parte, Inventario Avam, Minerva, Revistart, Lápiz, Subastas Siglo XXI, Tendencias and XTRart.
