Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa e Fondazione Fotografia Modena presentano Fantasmi e realtà, il suggestivo lavoro di uno dei più interessanti fotografi tedeschi contemporanei, Axel Hütte.
Realizzata in occasione della 14° Biennale di Architettura, la mostra organizzata negli spazi della galleria di piazza San Marco include un importante nucleo di nuovi lavori che l’artista ha realizzato a Venezia, rendendo omaggio all’austera bellezza dei nobili palazzi della città lagunare. Nella serie veneziana le immagini dei palazzi sono stampate su vetro, montato a sua volta su uno specchio retrostante che arricchisce l’immagine di nuovi, inquietanti e misteriosi riflessi. La luce dorata della chiesa di Santa Maria dei Frari, così come il lampadario Palazzo Loredan, creano un’atmosfera dove il binomio con l’oscurità diviene un elemento primario.
Fantasmi e Realtà si inserisce nel programma che la Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa dedica alla città di Venezia, ai suoi fenomeni culturali e, soprattutto, agli artisti che meglio hanno saputo raccontarla interpretandone in maniera personale le suggestioni estetiche - come avvenuto con le illustrazioni di Lorenzo Mattotti - o la particolarissima valenza sociale, come nel caso della mostra Migropolis, e delle speciali indagini condotte sul tessuto produttivo del territorio da Marjetica Potrč e sul tema dell'acqua da Lucy&Jorge Orta.
In occasione della rassegna sarà pubblicato il volume Axel Hütte. Fantasmi e Realtà, edito da Skira e contenente le due serie complete di lavori realizzati durante le residenze italiane, a Venezia e nell’Appennino modenese.

The Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa and the Fondazione Fotografia Modena present Fantasmi e Realtà, featuring the evocative work of one of the most interesting contemporary German photographers: Axel Hütte.
Produced on the occasion of the 14th Architecture Biennale, the exhibition staged in the spaces of the Gallery in St. Mark’s Square includes a major set of new works which the artist produced here in Venice, paying homage to the austere beauty of the noble palazzos of the lagoon city.
In the Venetian series, the shots of the palazzos are printed onto glass before being mounted onto a backing mirror which enhances the image with new, disarming and enigmatic reflections. The golden light of the church of Santa Maria dei Frari, just like the lampshade in Palazzo Loredan, create an atmosphere in which its coupling with the darkness becomes a primary element.
Fantasmi e Realtà is part of the programme that the Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa is dedicating to the city of Venice, to its cultural phenomena and, most of all, to the artists who have shown themselves to be most able to present it, interpreting its aesthetic evocations in a personal manner – as was the case with the illustrations of Lorenzo Mattotti – or who present its very particular social value, as in the case of the Migropolis exhibition, and the special investigations carried out into the industrial fabric of the territory by Marjetica Potrč, as well as that on the theme of water by Lucy&Jorge Orta.
