Giovedì 22 settembre 2016, dalle 18 alle 20,30, la galleria Davide Gallo, sita in via Farini 6, secondo cortile, ha il piacere di inaugurare la mostra “Parola seme”, personale del duo Bianco-Valente.
Il tema sviluppato nella mostra, è la conseguenza di un’analisi che negli ultimi anni gli artisti hanno condotto sulla relazione tra parola, segno e suo contenuto visivo.
Già nelle opere “Constellation of Me” per l'ISP 2014 del Whitney Museum, “Cosa manca”, “Il mare non bagna Napoli”, “Ogni dove” e “Towards You” gli artisti affrontavano la questione, sempre aperta, del rapporto tra linguaggio visivo e una condizione psicologica e sociale più profonda, rispetto a quella che si potrebbe immaginare ad un’analisi di superficie.
In “Constellation of Me”, Bianco-Valente chiedono agli abitanti di Chelsea, a New York, di descrivere il quartiere prima che questo diventasse un distretto del lusso, dell’arte e della moda. Ne esce fuori una mappatura sociale che è anche l’insieme di percorsi esistenziali, letteralmente scritta dagli stessi abitanti, sulle pareti di The Kitchen, al Whitney Museum. Una costellazione che è quindi un viaggio nel tempo, nella trasformazione sociale ed umana del luogo. Anche in “Cosa manca” il linguaggio è strumento di analisi sociale, e di indagine umana. Gli artisti infatti chiedono agli abitanti di Roccagloriosa, un antico borgo del Cilento che si sta spopolando, "cosa manca" affinché quel luogo possa tornare a vivere. “Il mare non bagna Napoli”, “Ogni dove” e “Towards You”, sono semplici scritte in ferro. La parola qui diviene strumento di connessione tra esperienza umana, e luoghi geografici.
Date queste premesse, meglio si comprende la recente produzione di "Parola seme", dove Bianco-Valente utilizzano le parole per ricostruire l’esperienza umana di persone che non hanno mai conosciuto. Vecchie fotografie, frammenti di vita di persone sconosciute, sono il punto di partenza per una ricerca nello spazio e nel tempo, in cui l’esperienza degli artisti si confonde a quella dei soggetti raffigurati. Il viaggio ha un valore fondamentale, capace di tracciare una mappa di geografie e vite sconosciute. L'immagine fotografica è evocata attraverso la parola, che diventa strumento di relazione tra l’artista, il pubblico e i soggetti narrati. Le parole sono come semi, che fanno germogliare immagini diverse. In questo modo l’atto della creazione viene affidato all’osservatore, che diviene creatore della sua immagine, della sua visione del mondo. Il valore dell’immaginazione creativa esce accresciuto, così come é accresciuto il potere della parola, considerata l’unico strumento che l’arte ha per raccontare ed analizzare se stessa.

The theme developed in the exhibition is the result of an analysis that in recent years the artists have done on the relationship between work, sign and its visual content.

Bianco-Valente, deal with the question, always open, of the relationship between visual language and a social and psychological condition deeper than it could appear on the surface of the facts.
For the art work “Constellation of Me”, Bianco-Valente ask to the residents of Chelsea, in New York, to describe the neighborhood before it became the luxury district of art and fashion.
What emerges is a social map, that is also the set of existential paths, literally written by the people of Chelsea on the walls of The Kitchen, at Whitney Museum. A constellation that is therefore a journey through time, through social and human transformation of the place.
Also in the piece “Cosa manca”, language is a medium of social analysis and human investigation.
The artists in fact, ask to the people of Roccagloriosa, an ancient village in Cilento that is depopulated, "what is missing to the place" to let it goes back to life.
“Il mare non bagna Napoli”, “Ogni dove” and “Towards You”, are simply written in iron. The word becomes connection between human experience, and geographic locations.
Following these premises, we can better understand the recent production of "Parola seme", where Bianco-Valente are using words to reconstruct the human and existential experience of people who have never known.
Old photographs, fragments of life of unknown people, are the starting point for a research in space and time, where the experience of the artists is confused with that of the persons depicted in the images.
The travel has a fundamental value, able to draw a map of geographies and unknown lives. The photographic image is evoked by the word, that becomes instrument of relationship between the artist, the audience and the subjects of the photos.
Words are like seeds that germinate different images. Therefore the act of creation is entrusted to the observer who becomes the creator of his own image, his vision of the world.
In this way, the creative imagination becomes increased, as it is also increased the power of the word, considered the only instrument that art has to tell and analyze itself.
The Gallery will be open from September 23rd to October 1st, full time, from 10 am to 10 pm, including Sunday and Monday. From Tuesday October 4th, to October 29 only by appointment.
